Expansion

Last night I was driving East on Queens Boulevard, I made a left turn to get onto the Grand Central Parkway and was struck by the vision of an enormous and beautiful moon.  It was surreal. I wanted to park my car and photograph it or just park it and be able to take it in for a while. At that point I could do no such thing.

When I was at a stand still in traffic I was able to see the moon but not as majestic as I had seen it earlier.
I attempted to take photographs, I've not looked at the photos I took but I doubt any was able to capture the phenomena.

Once I got home and took care of my Saturday night chores I relaxed for a moment and took out one of my many journals. I sat in silence for a moment and began to review the events of my day. I thanked the Lord and the Universe for all the blessings and wonderful moments I encountered during the course of the day, especially the ability to see such beauty when I least expect it.

The title of this post today is EXPANSION, the reason is because what I focus on expands. When I am stuck in a rut it seems the rut just grows and grows. When I focus on the beauty and the blessing it too grows and grows.

When I woke up this morning I was feeling a bit out of sorts. I'm not certain of the reason but I do think not meditating for a bit has something to do with it.  I took three minutes to quiet down and breathe and once I did the day became a no brainer full of love and light.

I was smart enough to join my son and his dad  for a rare breakfast moment outside. That was a fun and joyful experience. Later I was blessed to attend mass with five phenomenal beings in my life.  After mass four of us went to get some food. Thankfully I had the sense to go to IL Cantone Cafe, in Franklin Square, NY. We enjoyed some pizza, fried calamari, salads and wonderfully soothing Italian music.

Before heading home we stopped at the coffee shop for an afternoon cap.

I usually blog once my family is asleep or making their way into bed, currently I'm waiting for dinner to be done and once it is we will all sit together for a healthy homemade family dinner made with Tons and Tons of love!

Right at this very moment I am being serenaded by a symphony of laughter from both downstairs and upstairs.  That, my friends, is The Lord's Blessing!

See, when I focus on the good it gets better. When I focus on the great it only expands to greatness. I promise you, when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Snapshot

A word evokes a memory. A scent, a song...these things induce great melancholy in this pretty head of mine.
I can be going about my day just following all the steps and then viola, I hear, "No Doubt" sing something that brings me back to a moment that gives me chills. Today I smile, tomorrow I don't know cause tomorrow doesn't exist.

A thought can come at me like a wave...

I take lots of photographs, it's my way of capturing a moment and even without a single shot I can still vividly recall minor details of previous experiences. Sometimes I wonder what makes a moment become ingrained in my memory archives. What?!?

I always tell my friends that I don't know anything about anything especially about politics but I do know what I feel. My feelings never lie to me. They are complete and authentic.  How I interpret them, that's a whole 'nother blog.

Share with me your thoughts on THINKING, REMINISCING, "Dancing to remember or Dancing to forget."

Does this happen to you?

It use to be, when I was in my twenties, I drank way too much cola.  "Way too much" was about three or four cans a day.  I'd start early in the morning.  I didn't drink coffee (unless I was having a cappuccino after dinner in a restaurant, so I would use that as one of my excuses) for breakfast so I would say, "This is my coffee!"  I would simultaneously smoke a cigarette (I thank God every single day that I stopped that life hurting habit five or so years ago).

I use to love the Chic Click sound of opening up a fresh can of cola.  CLICK, shhhhh, bubble, bubble, bubble. The sounds were like a symphony to me.  I'd relish in the joy of sometimes pouring the contents of the can into a large metallic cup full of ice, the sounds are still music to my ears.  Thankfully I don't drink cola the way I use to.  This day and age I have about 10 or 12 ounces of the stuff about once a month.  The thing about it is I sometimes crave it and want to run to the grocery store to get a cold can of cola and pour it into a tall glass full of ice to sit down and savor it but instead I make the wise choice to fill up on some HEAVEN SENT WATER. Yep. A tall glass of cold water, a short glass of room temperature water, water is such a gift to me!  Heck, it's a gift to the universe.

I love drinking water. I always have a glass of water if I have a cup of coffee. I always drink water when I drink wine. I have a cup of water before I even brush my teeth every morning. I love water.  Tell me why I still have the COLA CRAVING every once in a while?!? Why is the addiction to Cola greater than the addiction to cigarettes (for ME)? I stopped smoking one day and have not had the desire to smoke at all. In all honesty a dear friend of mine picked up the habit after being someone who would THROW AWAY my cigarettes.  My friend began smoking and we were at a retreat at Camp Getaway in Connecticut, a work retreat, and she was smoking. I took one of her cigarettes to throw it away like she use to back in the days and took a drag off of it. Oh my, worst mistake, the drag of the cigarette made me feel ill. Thankfully that was the one and only time I had the 'sillimindedness' to do that.

So, my question is "Does this Happen to you?"  By "THIS" I mean do you crave what you know is harmful for you? Do you want to engage in things that are not for your benefit only because it is entertaining or it tastes good?

Before you make a decision, no matter what the decision, I recommend you take a deep breathe and sit with your choices for a moment.  If it's a serious thing take more than a moment.  Nevertheless, having a tall glass of water while deliberating is always a SMART move to make.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences with this.
